Copper Beech Trees share all the same attributes as Green Beech other than the colour. A purple beech hedge is at its stunning best when in full sun and the leaves become the most vibrant purple. This can create a fantastic contrast to the many greens of the garden. The purple leaves darken even more further into the summer and then change to the most wonderful copper hue in autumn and if trimmed in autumn, the dying leaves are held on until the new growth arrives in spring. It therefore makes a great alternative to a fully evergreen hedge. An excellent choice for a formal, native hedge tolerant of exposed conditions. For soils prone to drought or heavy clay, waterlogged soils, Hornbeam is a more suitable alternative
