Case Study: Instant Elaeagnus Hedge Installation in Burscough

At Hedging UK, we work closely with professional landscape gardeners, landscaping contractors, and members of the public to supply high-quality hedging that delivers reliable, professional results.

This instant Elaeagnus hedge installation in Burscough demonstrates how the right plants, combined with expert advice, can transform an outdoor space quickly and effectively. The property is located just 10 minutes from our premises, this project did not require a landscaper as the client wanted to plant the hedging themsleves. We provided the customer with expert guidance on planting and aftercare, and they visited the nursery.

The Brief

The aim of the project was to create immediate privacy, add structure, and reduce road noise. The client explained when they moved into the property that the front room could be looked into from passers by (see picture above) and the customer wanted this addressing as quickly as possible. I assessed the site from photographs and recommended the most suitable instant-hedging solution, which in this case was Elaeagnus.

As traditional young hedge plants would have taken time to mature, the client required a smart, evergreen screen that would appear established from the outset while complementing the surrounding landscape.

The Solution: Why Elaeagnus Instant Hedging

We recommended to the client they use Instant Elaeagnus hedging as it is ideal for this installation.

Elaeagnus was the perfect choice because of its:

• Fast establishment
• Green and silver coloured evergreen foliage
• Clean, modern appearance (to compliment the new build property)
• Excellent response to pruning

By using Elaeagnus instant hedging, we created an immediate visual impact, providing a dense and uniform hedge in a single installation.

Installation by the Client

The result was a neat, straight, fully formed hedge that immediately defined the boundary and enhanced the overall appearance of the space. This project highlights the value of strong collaboration between supplier and client. By combining high-quality plants with expert advice from Hedging UK, the customer achieved a professional result efficiently and with minimal disruption.

We provided advice on how to plant the hedge, we provided the customer with information about the proper care and regular pruning, Elaeagnus hedges provide security and privacy while enhancing the appearance and value of the property. On a personal note, I have enjoyed driving past the property and seeing the hedge mature and fulfil the requirements we originally discussed with the client.
